At the forefront of Europe's glass industry, GIFFT stands as a beacon of innovation, dedicated to revolutionizing the landscape of glass production. As a leader in an energy-intensive sector, we recognize the pressing need for sustainable practices to propel us into a greener future.
The GIFFT project embarks on a mission to develop cutting-edge, sustainable, and hybrid heat production technology for industrial glass manufacturing. We're pushing the boundaries of what's possible, integrating plasma-assisted combustion and gasification systems to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
A key aspect of our endeavour involves the development of a fuel-flexible entrained flow gasifier (EFG) with a groundbreaking e-gasification function. Paired with a new plasma-assisted fuel-flexible gas burner, our technology enables hybrid operation in glass furnaces. This not only diversifies feedstock but also enhances technological performance and reduces costs, ensuring a more circular and renewable approach.
GIFFT is focused on creating an integrated heat production technology that leverages biomass, waste, and excess renewable electricity for syngas production. By doing so, we aim to contribute significantly to Europe's journey towards bioenergy integration into industrial settings, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
GIFFT is committed to thorough evaluation. We delve into the techno-economic feasibility and environmental impact of our technology, ensuring it aligns with our mission to enhance the sustainability of biomass combustion, gasification, and bioenergy value chains. Our aim is not just progress, but progress with a purpose—reducing emissions and fostering a greener, more resilient future.
