We are proud to announce that Dr. Nerijus Striūgas, Senior Research Fellow at the Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI) and Coordinator of the Horizon Europe GIFFT Project, has been awarded the prestigious Algirdas Žukauskas Prize by the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.
The award was granted in recognition of his scientific achievements in the field of energy, particularly for his research cycle “Gasification of Biomass and Waste for Sustainable Energy Production (2010–2024).” The prize was presented during a formal ceremony at the Academy’s General Assembly on April 8, 2025. Dr. Striūgas expressed his gratitude to the Academy, his colleagues at LEI’s Combustion Processes Laboratory, and collaborators who contributed to this long-term research direction. He emphasized the importance of continued scientific and technological collaboration in advancing sustainable energy solutions in Lithuania and beyond.
The Algirdas Žukauskas Prize is awarded every four years to researchers who have made outstanding contributions in thermal physics and energy sciences.
